Stop the Clock

In class we have been having races using both analog and digital clocks. Here is the link to practice the game that we will be playing next. The more you play, the faster you get, the better you become at telling time.

Congratulations to Ashley for winning today's "Stop the Clock" race. She finished in 13 seconds!!

If you have mastered that game and are up for a challenge try stop the clock level 3. It is more difficult, but will help you become more proficient with telling time. Here is the link to the level three game: http://oswego.org/ocsd-web/games/StopTheClock/sthec3.html.

Good luck and make sure to practice. {Mrs. Miles}

Edmodo!

I know you may be wondering what in the world is Edmodo. Well it is basically a safe and easy way for our class to connect and collaborate, share content, access homework, grades and school updates. It works in the same way Facebook works, except it is safe for kids and is educational. If you want to check it out I have created a group page for our class and created a login for each of you. To login your user name is your lunch number and the password is 1234. You can post messages to me at anytime and I can answer you right back. Sounds cool huh?? The cool thing is...is that I can post quizzes and polls to use for extra credit. This is a great way to earn wildcat coins too. Check it out and let me know what you think! I think you will love it! {Mrs. Miles}

It Finally Grew!!!

Wow! It finally grew! It was so exciting to see this bean plant germinate and grow from a little seedling into a giant plant. We were all so suprised that it said "Hi there"!

The Mixed Up Chameleon

This week in writing we read about The Mixed Up Chameleon. The book was about a chameleon that went to the zoo and wanted to be like the other animals. {By: Ashley}

He began to wish that he was like all the other animals in the zoo. His body parts changed in to parts from all the other animals. {By: Zach}

In the end he realizes he wants to be himself and his body changes back to normal. {By: Marlenne}

We have designed our own mixed up chameleons and are beginning to write our own unique mixed up chameleon stories. {By: Mrs. Miles}

Below are some examples of the Mixed up Chameleons that our class has designed. We have some really creative artists in our class!!

The Newest Addition to Our Class

Ruby!This week while we were reading the perfect pet we got the perfect pet!! Mrs. Miles brough in Ruby the hamster. She does some weird stuff like she'll try to turn her wheel backwords. She is the perfect pet. [By Mickey]

I like Ruby because she is so so so cute and cuddly . She does cool things like climb on her water bottle and knock over her exersise wheel. But she is still the the best class pet we ever had in the whole world. [ By Jaylon ]

I was so happy that we got a new class pet. I could not wait to pet her. When I did finally pet her she was soft as silk. What a wonderful new addition to our class. [ by marlenne]

Secret Message Seed

In class we have been watching a bean plant grow,and and start to germinate. When it grows fully there will be a secret message on one leaf. The whole class is so excited to see it grow and discover the secret message! We've also been learning the parts of a plant,and living and nonliving. The parts of a plant are the roots,stem,leaves,the flower,and seed. An example of a living thing is a dog,a plant,and a human. An example of nonliving thing is a chair,a blanket,and a table.

We Made Vokis!

Our class is so proud that we finished our first technology project. This Voki Project was completed in my Reading/Language block (not my homeroom class). Each student was given a key term that we have been learning about in language and spelling class and were responsible for giving a clear description of what that term meant. We logged onto the Voki website (www.voki.com) and created our very own avatars. Once our avatar was created we recorded ourselves reading our descriptions. I think they turned out great and I am so proud of how hard everyone worked. I am putting up just a few to see all of them click HERE to see all of them on my school webpage.
